Rev Leinamau Seru
Leinamau was ordained in the year 2001, in Port Vila, Vanuatu by the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu. Being the third of the female Ministers ordained was and is still a challenge today. She worked for five years at her home Parish called Mele and is thankful for the experience and the learning done. The following nine years saw her at their Head Office assisting their Christian Education Director. Prior to that, she was a Primary School Teacher for the Government in Vanuatu for about nine years. Leinamau says, ‘My interest in Christian Education was mostly to do with children, youth, single mums or dads, and others who supported them. I have been involved in Sunday School activities, youth, women and men fellowships and other mission work overseas as Scripture Union, YWAM, Campers Crusaders and Langham Preaching. I am involved in running conventions for children from our church and also other denominations in an ecumenical way. As a female Pastor, I think we do things differently from our male colleagues but we complement each other to God’s glory when we work hand in hand with love, respect, wisdom and humility. I believe that if we in Vanuatu, look beyond our gender, and see Christ in us, Vanuatu could become a paradise, (not only in Tourism terms) but heaven on earth because of God’s love and grace in us.
